speculum mundi
speculum mundi

Narcissus law:

some notes are necessary around the articulation of the relationship between see and to be seen. We tried to reconstruct an optical dynamic based on the identity of subject and object, that is on the circular movement established by the narcissistic dialectic.
The phenomenology of the gaze emphasizes the fact that he who sees, is always in turn a being seen, and seen by others, as if only the fact of being seen allowed the subject to perform the function of seeing. We want to say that we are beings watched, in the spectacle of the world. What makes us aware, establishes us at the same time as speculum mundi, creatures in front to the mirror.
One aspect that is considered significant is the general concept on the visual modalities of the perception of the spectator, this apparently superfluous idea has in fact been found to be fundamental to define the visual modality of this theater.
The alternation of passing shows, the alternation of frontal visual axes and perspective cones, increase the chromatic richness of the drama and involve the people in a dynamic action that change the theater into a circular exhibition.
The eye that looks, and that of the conscience in particular, does not exercise its ability to see on neutral objects, but on objects already looked at. The eye that looks does not meet an object as a gaze organized in structure and therefore the very fact of being seen, which allows the conscience the function of seeing therefore a theater to see, be seen, be seen see, see be seen to see etc.
